There's a Suicide box being put together for release sometime in 2008. The folks who are assembling this time capsule are looking for posters, articles, photos and just about anything to annotate their journey. Know the whereabouts of the axe (and we're not talking guitar here) that flew past Alan's napper at the Glasgow Apollo? Then you can give the curators a holler via this very blogspot.
And just 20 days to go until the new Alan Vega album "Station" comes out on Mute/EMI.

i,ve seen the mighty SUICIDE 3 TIMES over the last 30 years-in 1978 with the clash, this is the infamous tomahawk incident, these guy,s make the clash look and sound like a bunch of retro stones copyists! next SUICIDE gig was in london in 1986-by then the edge was gone ,they,d been accepted by the ignorant hordes but still played a blinder. the 3rd and last gig was in glasgow venue, by this time they were playing for laughs-the GLASGOW APOLLO gig was a corker-i,ve still never heard a band getting so much abuse of so called open minded "punks"my ass!
The only hostility I saw remotely close was when The Cramps opened for The Police. Oh, and also when Japan did those honours for Blue Oyster Cult. 'cept Japan really did stink.
I saw Suicide twice :
- at La Palace in Paris (opening for Devo in 1978, or maybe the Stray Cats in 1980 can't remember), they were great, Alan Vega spitting all over, always angry;
- then 2 years ago, at a festival here (Evreux), same hypnotic stuff, less angry but still rocking.

4 times for me - incredibly erratic.
Number 1 opening for the Banshees at Brixton in (I think) 1988. OK, not great.
Number 2 Islington Garage 1998 - memorable, good - not fantastic.
Number 3 - a few months later - 4th July 1998 Royal Festival Hall opning for the Mary Chain. Tremendous!! I had low expectations, but was blown away.
Number 4 - Haarlem Patronaat c. Feb 2003 - good fun with Vega's nipper joining them on stage for a dance. Great night.
Love the band and I have got used to their highly erratic live form. Can be great, can be DIRE!

Let's just hope the box-set will focus on "the angry years" i.e.: the 70s... So much great material from that era has seen scattered release over the years, it would be nice to have it all in one package (remember the great version of 'Rocket USA' from the Max's comp?)
saw them quite a few times, the legendary 23 minutes over brussels, alan solo in brussels when his tape recorder blew up, in gent, and a couple of years ago in antwerp. have many recordings & some pictures.
