Dutch p-rock legends the Helmettes are workin' on their debut (!) LP, and have some demos up for download on their website. Hardly a match on their classic 45 (but what is?), these new songs still display plenty of the eccentricity that has always surounded these guys...

I have just downloaded al six songs, Great! “1978” is in line with “Half Twee” maybe with less dynamics but that’s Mp3 for ya. “Is it safe out there?” is in style with the lesser known “Sit Still”. “So, what are you going to do about it?” Great tune, great lyrics. A beautiful song for a dead friend, Dr. Rat, an unexpected surpise from the Helmettes. And than they go on a completely new road with two great songs that even my girlfriend liked. On the site are also two unknown versions of their older classics that I downloaded as well, these she did not like.
